Vernon

Vernon started dancing at the age of 14 where he was first inspired by MTVs dance. He went on to join dance competitions in his schools such as Talentime, and also performed for numerous events, mainly Teachers’ Day, National Day and SYF. Since then, he developed his love for HipHop dance. Under the guidance of NTUMJ residential choreographer Mr. Patrick Loo, a Hiphop dance icon in Singapore, Vernon become more passionate about dance. Wanting to pursue his dream as a dance instructor from then on, Vernon went to take classes and courses in Studio Wu, under the guidance of Ms. Sheila Cheong, ex artistic director of Studio Wu, where he was given a lot of opportunities to teach schools and perform in shows.

During his studies exchange in Oslo, Norway, he was fortunate enough to find Oslo Streetdance Studio where he frequently took classes there. He also represented their performance team ‘Soulstars’ Trainee group in a ‘High School Musical 3’ performance at a cinema and ‘Battle of the South’ competition at one of the clubs, where he was very inspired by 2 overseas instructors/mentors who came over to conduct workshops during the semester, namely Rodrigo Willner (BRA) & Aneta Antosova (CZE). Ever since then, Vernon has started his dance teaching career in numerous schools and is a current member of Blaqueneez, a renowned Hip Hop group in Singapore. Vernon also teaches at Converge Studios.
