Sabrina Fam is a dancer, learner, instructor, choreographer, big eater and someone with a quirky sense of humour. She loves learning new things and always strives to challenge herself through performances, classes and competitions. She also seeks to challenge her students through body conditioning exercises and drills as she strongly believes that “some people get what they want by wishing for it, but most people get what they want through hard work and dedication”.
Since 2009, her passion for learning and growth fuelled her to seek training in wide range of genres including Hip Hop, Waacking, Modern dance, Jazz Funk and other street dance styles from veterans in the scene. These include Patrick Loo (Danzpeople), Tyrone Proctor (Imperial House of Waacking), Bryan Lee (O School), Winnie Chan (Studio Wu), Zaki Ahmad, Wee Ee-Ching and many more. She served as the 14th Dance captain of Singapore’s largest tertiary Hip Hop dance club, NUS Dance Blast! and was invited to join Studio Wu Elite Team and Converge Studio’s teaching faculty in 2015. She cannot thank younger talents like Vernon Huang, Wei Zong Loh and Xavier Teo enough for also guiding her in the later parts of her dance career.
As a dancer with more than 7 years of experience, she has performed for major partners such as Esplanade Dans:Festival, HTC, GAP, Glee (Fox TV), WuXMas (Ngee Ann City), Hewlett-Packard (Marina Bay Sands), Amway (Singapore Indoor Stadium), Tiger Airways and Singapore Polytechnic. Her pieces were featured in Temasek Junior college and NUS Dance Blast! dance concerts, while she helmed the role of Creative Director (Out of Bounce: Headlines) with the help of her creative girls. She was also invited to choreograph for YMCA (Singapore)’s World Challenge, congruent with International Flashmob Day in 2014.
Sabrina also co-lead an all-girls’ crew, MenaQueenX, with Xavier Teo to clinch finalist positions for competitions such as H2O Ultimate Dance Challenge and Street Fervour Dance Competition since 2013. Sabrina has also clinched Championship and finalist positions in other solo and group freestyle and choreography competitions. These include Floor the Love 2v2 Waacking Category Top 8 (2009), All Styles Blast! Freestyle Champion (2012), and NUS Sparkz Finalist (2015).
When she’s not sharing or learning about dance, you can find Sabrina laughing loudly, cracking bad jokes and eating good food (gummies are good for you).
